Online Booking is open for Akshara Abhyasam / Vidyarambham held at Avanamcode Saraswathi Temple, the temple where the Jagadguru Adi Sankaracharya undertook his Akshara Abhyasam. Adi Sankaracharya’s birth place, Kalady, is only around 9 Kms from the temple. Avanamcode Saraswathi Temple is located 2 Kms from the Cochin International Airport. Booking is only required for Akshara Abhyasam / Vidyarambham for the holy Vijayadashami Day, 13 October, during the Durga Puja Festival 2024.

Akshara Abhyasam / Vidyarambham is done during Basant Panchami in other states. However, in Kerala, it is done inside temples during the holy Vijayadashami Day during the Durga Puja Festival. It is only done daily inside Ma Saraswathi Temples. Akshara Abyasam / Vidyarambham can be done daily at the Avanamcode Saraswathi Temple. More devotees visit the temple to undertake Akshara Abhyasam / Vidyarambham during the holy period of Durga Puja and Basant Panchami (2 February 2025).

Aksharabhyasam / Vidyarambham: Rs. 400 (Aksharabhyasam - Rs. 100; Saraswatha Ghee - Rs. 150; Navu-Mani-Narayam - Rs. 100; Saraswatha Pushpanjali - Rs. 30; Thrimadhuram - Rs. 30; Enchanted Thread - Rs. 20. Total amount rounded to Rs. 400.) Receipt has to be taken at the counter near the Aksharabhyasam / Vidyarambham Panthal.

All necessary arrangements for Aksharabhyasam / Vidyarambham should be made available at the temple. Your Registration Code is the mobile number you register with this form. Show this number at the registration counter. Aksharabhyasam / Vidyarambham can also be done without online registration. You can do this ritual from 5.30 am to 1.00 pm.

Vidyavageeshwari Puja & Saraswathi Puja are important offerings that can be booked throughout the calendar year.

Nearest major railway station is Aluva (Station Code: AWY) located 10 Kms from the temple. Limited trains will also stop at Angamaly for Kalady railway station (Station Code: AFK) located 6.5 Kms from the temple. Contact the temple office for booking affordable accommodations near the Cochin International Airport. Travel arrangements for visiting the temple and Kalady, the birthplace of Adi Sankaracharya can also be done from the place of accommodation.
